Before applying fertilizer to your lawn we need to consider what your lawn is lacking and the current weather. Fertilizer consists of three main compounds, Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and Potassium (Potash), along with other secondary elements. This is known as the N-P-K ratio and is displayed for example as 12-4-8 on the label. It’s important to know what these elements do to your lawn so you know what ratio to apply. Always follow the label exactly as to not over apply and damage your lawn, and use slow release type fertilizer.
